What should I do if I can’t use the compound salt spray test chamber for the first time?

Five knowledge points for novices of compound salt spray test chamber

(1) Is it allowed to open the lid of the compound salt spray test chamber to check the samples?

Yes, but not recommended. Opening the lid will cause the temperature of the salt spray box to decrease, and the salt spray will diffuse into the test room, causing the test results to be different. The spraying shall not be interrupted during the specified test period, only when it is necessary to observe the test for a short time. Only then can the salt spray test chamber be opened.

(2) Can the salt spray test time be equivalent to the actual use time (for example, the salt spray test* is equivalent to one year of external use)?

No, because there are many factors that affect metal corrosion, a single salt spray resistance cannot replace the resistance to other media, so the test results obtained from the test cannot be used as a direct guide to the corrosion resistance of the tested material in all use environments. At the same time, the performance of various materials in the test cannot be used as a direct guide to the corrosion resistance of these materials in use. Nevertheless, the salt spray test can still be used as a method to verify the corrosion resistance of the tested material or not.

(3) After the composite salt spray test box is tested, does the sample appear to be corroded and the test fails?

No, the customer needs to provide the basis for judgment, otherwise we only describe the appearance of the sample after testing.

(4) Is it allowed to clean samples in the salt spray test?

No, unless the customer specifies otherwise. There will be obvious deviations in the test results of the cleaning samples during the test.

(5) If the customer does not know what salt spray test is required for his sample, what is the test time? Can the manufacturer recommend it?

The test cycle of the compound salt spray test chamber should be selected according to the relevant standards of the tested material or product, and the customer must determine it by himself.
